Well if your accelerometer has just stopped working on your Android G1, then the chances are that it’s not hardware related but actually operating system related.
What to do if this happens?
1) I would suggest using Astro so that you can easily backup all of your apps! You can do this by running the app, then going to (Settings / Application Manager / Backup)
2) Factory data reset your phone. (Settings / SD card & phone storage / Factory data reset)
Once you have done all of that, use Astro to re-install all of your apps. Same method as above, but select (Backed Up Apps)
Then re-try an app that uses the acceloremeter, this should solve your problem!
If it doesn’t, try it again. If it fails the second time round then you may have to send your phone off for repairs!
